Caring Mercies occurs as 1983 film which tells the story of an alcoholic country music singer whose friendship by having the immature widow woman & her boy aids to turn his life & his career as much as. It stars Robert Duvall, Tess Harper, Betty Buckley, Wilford Brimley and Ellen Barkin. A picture was filmed in the Dallas, Texas area.

It won Academy Awards for Best Actor in a Leading Role (Robert Duvall) and Best Writing, Screenplay Written Directly for the Screen, and was nominated for Best Director, Best Music, Song (for Austin Roberts and Bobby Hart for "Over You") & Best Picture.
